Stuart Stevenson Running Marathon and Raising Money For St Elizabeth Hospice

Early in the New Year, First Team Coach Stuart Stevenson started training to run the London Marathon on the 28th of April. As you may be aware, many of the people who run the marathon do so in order to raise money for worthy causes. This is also the case with Stuart.

Last year, Stuart’s sister-in-law was cared for by St Elizabeth Hospice in her final few weeks and Stuart is now doing his best to raise £2,000 for this worthy organisation.

This will be marathon number six for Stuart, although it is the case that he couldn’t quite finish the last one because of problems with his knee. In order to complete marathon number seven, he has had to juggle competing demands on both his time and energy. Family, work, football and now training for a 26-mile run do show the man’s dedication to a cause, however.

So far, Stuart has raised around £530 through the Just Giving link. He also raised money from bucket donations before the recent home game against Great Wakering Rovers.

It sometimes seems these days that demands are made on all of us to give to various different good causes and it can be a strain for some people. If, however, you feel you can make some contribution (no matter how small) it would undoubtedly be greatly appreciated.
