U12 Girls win seven goal thriller
Under 12's 4-3 Stonham Aspal - Sunday 13th January 2019 - Home
Back at Dellwood again on a cold and windy morning. It was Izzy's and my first game for over a month due to swimming gala's either side of the xmas break.
The game started with Izzy in goal - Bridie and Eve in defence - a midfield of Amelia, Evie and Rose - with Talia up front - today's subs were Freya, Livia, Lizzie and Talisha.
Well what a first half we had. Right from the start we gave as good as we got and, again, it came as no surprise that inside 3 minutes we went a goal behind. :) Not one of Izzy's best kicks only found a Stonham player. She controlled the ball before bringing it forward and not being challenged by any defenders, she shot past Izzy into the corner of our goal. 0-1
Not part of the plan, but a few minutes later we were level. Another one of Evie's great corners landed in the Stonham box and first to react was Talia who scored from close in. 1-1
The scores remained level for all of 2 minutes, when from a Stonham corner was volley in off a knee, but it did fly in. 1-2
Back we came and 3 minutes later from another Evie corner a swinging boot from a Stonham player had the ball flying into the Stonham goal for an own goal. (Would be hard pushed to give this one to Evie lol) 2-2
With 15 minutes gone Livia and Lizzie replaced Amelia and Bridie
No more goals were scored in the half, but we did have the clearer chances. In fact I can only remember one save that Izzy had to make.

At the start of the second half Amelia, Freya and Talisha replaced Lizzie (injured), Rose and Talia. There were chances for both sides with neither side getting on top.
In the 42 minute Lizzie was fit to return and replaced Eve.
More chances followed and again I believe the best of them fell to us. Then came the real drama.
With 9 minutes to go, a Stonham corner found a player unmarked and she scored. 2-3
Bridie replaced Amelia followed by Rose coming on for Evie.
Then came the 6 point moment of the game. We were pushing for the equaliser and lost the ball. Stonham counter attacked and it was 4 against 2. Then in a flash Izzy rushed out and blocked the shot. The ball came out to nearly half-way, Lizzie played it forward and found Rose. The ball went out to Freya and back across the goal were Lizzie pounced and scored from close range. 3-3
We were level where moments earlier we could have been 2 behind.
With just three minutes to go Talia replaced Freya.
A minute later following another cross into the Stonham box Talia was crashing the ball into the roof of their net sparking wild celebrations from the parents.....well me anyway lol. 4-3
There was just enough time for Amelia to replace Livia and for the parents to remind the ref of the time.... well me again lol.
Then it was al over and we had won.

What a game. 1st time I’ve seen us beat this team ( used to be Stowupland) in probably 10 games I’ve watched Izzy playing in. The girls really got stuck in and didn’t allow themselves to be pushed off the ball. Straight off the coaching ground. Well done Glenn and Geoff.
