Junior Weekend Round Up - 12/13 Jan 2019

Latest from the Junior Sides

Under 14 reds away v Hadleigh in the league.

0-4 Great battling display. Goals: O'Callaghan, Orton, Bunting x2 - MOM Charlie Orton

Under 12s red away to Claydon tigers.

Game turned out to be very entertaining with it 1-1 half time and a debut goal from sub Nguto. Bad start to second half conceding a goal inside 20 seconds and giving a dodgy penalty away putting us 3-1 down. Credit to our boys as they upped their play and tempo and went for it with 2 more goals, one for max and a second for a Naguto. Game ending 3-3. MOM  Hugo and Nguto.

U12 whites welcomed top of the league IVR to Dellwood and with 4 of our stronger players missing the rest of the boys didn't let us down. It was a great effort and they really proved themselves and only narrowly lost 2-1 (to a offside goal and we should've of a had penalty but because Archie D didn't go down and tried to get his shot in it wasn't given). It was a great battling performance with and IVR manager praising the boys saying that they are the 2nd best side they have played this season so which shows training is paying off boys. So well done boys and excellent effort.

Score 1-2 - Goal scorer Archie Dunne - Motm Charley Newman (gk) and Callum Summers

U13 Reds win away vs Coplestonians. 1-2.

1-0 down after 10 mins but pulled one back before half time. Second half we dug in on a difficult poor surface. In the last 15 minutes we got the winner which was deserved overall. Scorers were Alfie Rattle and Asa Heron.

Under 11's Reds visited Whitton United with a slightly depleted squad. The lads battled well in the first half with a great defensive display but unfortunately missed an outlet to take the pressure off. The half ended 0-0. 2nd half started the same way but the lads where handling the situation well and created a good couple of chances, one falling to Nick which the keeper saved well. Whitton managed to break down our defence to score a scrappy goal and the game ended 1-0 to the hosts. A good game and some nice individual performances. MOTM was George who managed his defence well and captained the team. More positives to take from the match than negatives which is pleasing.

Felixstowe and Walton u9 reds 6-0 Afc Kesgrave

Well the day started with the team having only the bare bones with one of the absent players being our goalie. So up stepped Dawson and Arthur to share the reliability between the sticks. So firstly thanks to them two.

The game started off well with the boys having the lion share of the game. Going 1-0 up with a goal from Henry Old and then Ross Coupe adding a second. A mention to Jake and Arthur  by showing they can play as wing backs which is something we're bringing into our games.

The second half started a little slow but we soon got our foot on the ball and started passing and moving all round the pitch which allowed Ross to score 2 quick goals to complete his hatrick. With the game drawing to a close a good team goal scored by Dawson Coldwell and another long range effort converted by Jacob Minter-Clarke rounded off the scoring.

MOTM was Ross Coupe worked so hard for his team last week with no joy in front of goal but this week he didn't let that affect him by scoring three well taken goals as well as working really hard again. Well done Ross.

U10 girls away to Capel Plough. A good game to watch and a more competitive game than the last time we played them and won 17-1 at home. Bit cold and windy one way. Half time we were 1-0 up with a very good solo goal from Lula. Second half with the wind in there faces the girls passed the ball really well scoring 3 more one from Lily and two from Cailey. We should have had a load more but it wasn't to be and Capel getting a consolation goal near the end. Final score 1-4 to the girls. 🔴⚪🔴⚪

U14 girls first game back also away to Capel Plough. First half up against the wind and needed to defend well and we did so coming off 3-1 in front. Second half with the wind behind us the girls started knocking the ball around very well and scored two more goals. Final score 5-1 with goals from Holly-3, Erika-2. Really good team performance.

U15 EJA Cup at home to Aveley. Goal chances were few and far between as both teams generally cancelled each other out. Despite this Meshach opened the scoring with a cracking strike from outside the box for his 1st goal of the season. Aveley equalised with a nice header on the stroke of half time. Early in 2nd half Nathan and Ethans pressure forced a mistake and Nathan raced through to put into the empty net for 2-1 but a free kick into the top corner pegged us back again for 2-2 and extra time. We took a chance with the formation and threw our Centre back Seth up top and he kept his cool wonderfully to smash the winner into the opposite corner. A great result for our lads and hope we don't get a trip down to London in the next round as a reward 🤣
