U14 Red win 4-0 at Hadleigh Utd U14

Probably the best two teams in Div 2 faced each other once again this morning, with Hadleigh keen to erase the memory of the December ’18 encounter, when The Seasiders ran out 3-1 winners in a spirited display with only 10 available players.

It was a tough tackling, no quarter given game, and Felixstowe came out on top with a great battling display. We limited Hadleigh to very few goal scoring opportunities, but always posed our own threat at the other end.

Within a few minutes of the first half, a nice through ball by Ellen was latched on to by Matt, who calmly took it on into the penalty area and slid it past the advancing keeper. 1-0.

Goal of the game followed mid half from Charlie O., twisting and turning just outside the Hadleigh box, he then finished with a beauty that flew into the top corner. H.T. 2-0.

A third goal would settle the nerves. 27 mins into the second half, a Fxt throw in was clearly handled in the box by an out of position defender, penalty!

Jake confidently stepped forward and made no mistake. 3-0. With just a few minutes remaining, a characteristic run from Matt, saw him fend off pursuing tacklers, and beating the keeper at his near post.

F.T. 4-0.

Coach Simon was pleased that the team had played very well as a ‘unit’, and Coach Jason gave MOM to Charlie O. We had probably killed off Hadleighs' title hopes, and as news filtered through that Bacton Utd had lost 1-2 at home, it was a good drive home to the coast
