LOGGER RETIRES

Leon Ottley-Gooch announces his retirement

Seasiders defender Leon Ottley-Gooch has announced his retirement from this level of football. Leon joined the club in June 2020 and went on to make 68 appearances, scoring 8 goals in the process as he became a firm favourite with his colleagues and supporters alike with his presence on and off the pitch, often being referred to as the nicest man in football!

Speaking to the media team, Logger said. "Thanks to everyone around the club for their support over such an enjoyable 4 years at the club. I couldn’t have asked for a better environment to see out my last few years at this level, the club is so well run on and off the pitch, it’s been a brilliant experience. Thanks to the fans who supported me and the boys through every moment. Thanks to Boards, Crumpy, Pottsy, Stu and Dougy for backing me all the way through. What a group of players to finish with, such talent but great people to be around. I Wouldn’t have gone on this long without them and I know they will do great things. Thanks also to Charlotte and the medical team for all the MOT's and repairs too!" Leon went on to say, "I think I knew it was time, I’ve been in and around this level for 20 years or so. It takes a lot out of you and you sacrifice a lot to try and give everything to the club every time you put on the shirt. Unfortunately I can’t do it forever and I’ve had to tell myself that before I get too slow!"

Seasiders Manager Stuart Boardley paid tribute to his friend. "Leon, well, what can I say…. I have played against Leon, then for many years played alongside him and for the last 4 seasons have had the pleasure of having him play for me. Everyone involved in local football will testify that he is genuinely the nicest guy you’re ever likely to meet and is a special player. He’s played pretty much every position possible during what was an unbelievable non league career and has done that with the utmost dedication, commitment and pure class. I feel privileged to have worked with Leon but more so to be able to call him a friend…. What a guy and what a career - you know that you and the family will be forever welcome at the seaside! Enjoy family time mate".
