Zak's Coming Home!
Seasiders get their man.
Felixstowe & Walton Utd have signed striker Zak Brown from Ipswich Town on a permanent deal. Zak was a former junior player for the Seasiders before signing professionally for Ipswich and is the brother of Charlie Brown, another Felixstowe boy who was been a prolific goal scorer at Chelsea, before joining MK Dons last year.
Speaking to the media team after last night’s friendly win over Ipswich Town U18’s, Zak explained why he’d signed. “It’s been a long time since I was here and I’m delighted I’m now back at the club and I’m really excited to be here. I’m looking forward to getting to know the boys and scoring some goals for the club. I’ve chosen Felixstowe because it’s my home town club, myself, my parents and family know a lot of people here so it felt like the right move for me and the right place to come. I can’t wait for the season to start, I’ve set myself a target of 15+ goals and to hopefully get the club into and around the playoffs”.
Seasiders Manager Stuart Boardley said. “We’re over the moon to get Zak, to get a local player, and a player of Zak’s stature is a huge coup for the club. He showed glimpses tonight (ITFC friendly) of what he’s about, that electrifying pace, ability on the ball and a real raw finisher who knows where the goal is, it’s what we’ve been crying out for, for the best part of a couple of years. We’ve tried to get Zak on loan numerous times and it’s never quite worked out for one reason or another, but we’re just glad to have him here, to where he calls home and I think he’ll be a huge asset to the club moving forward. For myself and Andy’s (Crump) point of view, it’s the last piece in the jigsaw to allow us to really challenge this year”.
Joint Chairman Matt Hope said “As a club, as soon as we heard Zak may be available, everyone was excited and committed to do our best to secure his services, as no doubt others would also be showing strong interest. I think it is evidence of the strides the club has made, the ambitious plans for the future, alongside the management team we have, that we have been able to secure Zak’s signature. What is particularly pleasing is Zak, having come through the junior ranks at the Goldstar Ground, before a number of years at ITFC, has decided to “COME HOME”. We welcome back Zak, and we wish him, all the squad and management all the very best for what will hopefully be an entertaining and exciting season ahead for us all“.
