CANFER MOVES ON

 OLLIE CANFER LEAVES THE SEASIDERS

The changes continue at the AGL Arena, with the announcement that Ollie Canfer is to leave the Seasiders. Canfs was one of Stuart Boardley’s first signings when he took over the hot seat in November 2019, signing Ollie from Mildenhall Town. With 36 goals in his 90 appearances, Canfs has been a major player in the upward trajectory the club has been on in recent years and a real crowd favourite. The former Stowmarket, Bury, Sudbury and Hadleigh striker will be seeking a new club after deciding to move on.

Ollie Canfer. “Wow, what a club! I’m sad that things have got to end but definitely proud of everything I have achieved at Felixstowe, starting out by being relegation candidates, scoring goals, and playing some of my best football. That is down to Boards and Crumpy, who have brought me in when the team were struggling. At the time I had to decide between coming to Felixstowe or another club and I was unsure where to go and is this the right one? But literally after playing the first game and meeting all the boys, it was 100% the right club for me and I’ve never looked back since. Thank you to everyone for your support throughout my time here. What a club, honestly, there is not enough words that can go into how special everyone is at this football club and it’s definitely going to leave a big hole for me with missing out on what the club is all about. I won’t be a stranger and I’ll be coming down as a fan and to thank everyone. I am gutted we didn’t end it the way I wanted, by getting the club promoted, but I’m sure they’ll be up there again this year, competing at the top half of the table, the playoff area, and even above and hopefully go a step further. I am gutted it’s over but I am so proud to have been a part in building the foundations to where Felixstowe are now”.

Stuart Boardley. “My best signing departs! Since the day Canfs began with us, everyone took to him, so much so that allowing Ollie to move on was such a hard call to make but one that I think is right for us, Ollie and his family at this time. His goals and leadership on the pitch have elevated Felixstowe to new heights over the last few seasons and AC and I often refer to him as our best ever signing as well as being the most genuine guy you’ll ever meet. Ollie is a fans favourite, a managers dream, a player who his peers look up to, and I think he’s felt at home since being with us at the seaside. We’ll all miss the big man around the place, none more so than my own kids for whom Ollie has become a bit of a cult hero! We all wish Ollie the best and hope to see him around the place in the not-too-distant future”.

Good luck Canfs!
