Welcome to Felixstowe & Walton United Football Club

Welcome to the Seasiders official website 2017/18.

2016 was the dawn of a new era for the club, an ever growing youth section, the first sod being turned and the first brick being laid for our new home.

The building of the clubhouse which we now call home was a long time in the planning & construction and it was all done with one objective, to take our club and all its teams, both senior and junior, to a better place on the football map!

Hopefully 2017/18 will see us consolidate our place and go from strength to strength.

Join us on the Journey, bring a friend, there’s room for everyone!

The Seasiders reserves moved into the semi-finals of this season’s competition by a far more orthodox route than they took getting to the quarter-final, a brace from the lively Harry Archer saw the reserves book their place in the semi-final  against a battling AFC Hoxne Reserves 2-1.

Compared to last week's game it was blue skies that's greeted this quarter final tie played in front of a good crowd that several first teams would have been pleased to attract and the two sides served up an entertaining game.

The seasiders from the off, always looked the sharper of the two sides and took an early lead with a delightfully weighted through ball from Lewis Main, with Harry Archer timing his run perfectly to coolly net past the visitor’s keeper.

How it remained 1-0 for the duration of the first half was anyone's guess as the home side carved out chances with Sam Segger unlucky not to get on the score sheet, Lewis Main seeing his header saved and again unable to capitalise on a through ball from Archer.

The visitors did force a good save from Ben Punter and had a couple of half chances themselves but it was Felixstowe that would have felt frustrated at the break only one goal to the good.

The second half nearly saw the home side punished for being far too casual and as the warnings from the bench sounded out, they started to compose themselves again within ten minutes.

Will Ransom had a great run down the left to start a period of play when Felixstowe got back on top forcing a string of corners with Archer and Segger denied again.

Archer's free kick after Rory Porter was taken out was brilliantly tipped round the post by the visitor’s keeper and Josh Horton’s attempt was deflected over.

The visitors replied forcing a couple of corners with Punter tipping over the bar and Lee Burns heading off the goal line, but they finally broke through with an effort on the edge of the box that hit the top left hand corner as the home side defence tried in vain to scramble the ball clear.

The game could have easily swung into the visitor’s favour but resolute defending by the reserves defence kept the visitor’s at bay and it was the home side that managed to go 2-1 up through Archer once again. He found himself clear inside the box to score into the top right corner giving the keeper no chance after a sustained period of pressure.

As the game wore on the fact that Felixstowe couldn't finish this game off seem to give Hoxne a lift and it was heart in mouths at times as you hoped the young defence would stay strong.  In the end it was the home side who finished the winners and credit to all the lads who put in 110% effort to book their semi-final place with the bonus of producing this performance in front of a decent crowd as the first team had a weekend off.

A special shout out to veteran, Gareth Bolt who soaked up the atmosphere with a rare appearance for the last 5 minutes and was straight into the action, then last seen recovering in the bar.

Next Saturday its back to the league with the reserves entertaining Stowmarket.
